Absolute carers can take care of and assist with general everyday and personal tasks that allow the client to maintain their independence and continue to live in their own home.
· Errands like shopping , collecting prescriptions etc
· Help getting out and about, taking trips, visiting friends or going on excursions
· Offering companionship, simple tasks like reading chatting listening
· A sitting service, providing brief relief for an existing care giver
PERSONAL CARE SERVICES
· Help getting up in the morning—toileting and bathing, washing and dressing
· Help with going to bed in the evening
· Help overseeing medication
· Overnight stays where necessary
My experience has taught me that continuity of care is really important, especially for clients suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s type illnesses when learning a new face or routine can be very distressing. Continuity of care helps with familiarity, developing comfortable routines and builds a trusting relationship between carer and client.
